FEMALES (genus) (From The Bees of the World –  Michener 2007)

  • 3 submarginal cells
  • Scopa present from hind trochanter to tibia, forming corbicula underside of femur
  • T5 with well developed longitudinal median zone of fine punctuation and commonly short, dense hairs, this zone dividing prepygidial fimbria (aka lines of hair dividing the abdomen tergums)
  • Apical labral process with strong longitudinal keel on anterior surface (like a protruding line on the apical process of the labrum)
  • Distal veins of forewing strong; coloration and hair bands variable.
  • T1 to T4 without bands of hairs or with basal bands of hairs (t1 and t2 only); body coloration variable sometimes bright metallic green or blue
  • Posterior surface of propodeum (first true abdominal segment on the back end of thorax) enclosed by strong carina

  • Length Female about 8 mm
  • anterior wing 6
  • Head and thorax brilliant bluish green
  •  lower margin of clypeus broadly black
  • labrum and mandibles red the latter black subapically
  • sides of face and front suffused with purple blue
  • flagellum dull ferruginous beneath but the last joint bright ferruginous on both sides
  • clypeus and supraclypcal area shining
  • mesothorax dull minutely granular
  • scutellum rather yellowish green shining somewhat bigibbous
  • area of metathorax purple poorly defined with obscure rugae
  • posterior truncation bright green with a sharp edge
  • tegulae light ferruginous
  • Wings dusky hyaline
  • stigma clear honey colour
  • second sm receiving first rn a considerable distance from its end (near middle of cell)
  • Legs light ferruginous with pale yellowish hair that on outer sides of tibiae more or less fuscous
  • Abdomen mainly metallic green with blue-purple shades on apical half, but the first three segments have transverse median bands of light-reddish brown where the surface is not metallic
  • bases of segments with pale tomentum venter mainly pale fulvous
  • The extreme bases of the abdominal segments are testaceous but the apical margins sliding over them are not noticeably discoloured

  • 3 submarginal cells

  • Body coloration variable, sometimes bright metallic green or blue
  • Gonostylus larger (Genitalia), more elaborate, often with long processers or folds or bifid, more than half as long as wide as gonocoxite or both; distal veins of forewing as strong as first submarginal crossvein
  • Posterior surface of propodeum (first true abdominal segment on the back end of thorax) enclosed by strong carina
