Unlike Augochlora buscki, this bee is described as having metallic green-gold hues, without any blue hues. This is also described as being much smaller than A. buscki, only 6.6-7.8cm long.
It seems like this species is distributed around the island, from the central moist tropical mountains to the dry forest.
